New wind powered car

New record-breaking wind powered car. The Greenbird is a carbon fibre composite vehicle that is powered by nothing but wind. A British engineer has broken the world’s land speed record with his new groundbreaking gimmick. He achieved 126.1 mph or 202.9 kmh with his Greenbird to be tested on the dry plains in Nevada. According to his designer, Greenbird weighs 600kg when not in operation which means that its weigh can be increased over a tonne at speed due to wings effect.

Due to the shape of the wind powered car, particularly at high speeds, the wings give lift that does not guarantee security. To avoid this, the designers have used the idea of Formula 1 cars by installing small wings to increase the car traction with the ground.

The only metalwork was used to create the wing bearings as well as the wheel unit. The designers depict Greenbird as " sailboat with a very high performance " and it does look like a sailboat but it is equipped with wings not sail. Wings are used to generate movement by means of wind power.
