First color-changing MINI

What we are witnessing is the first color changing breakthrough MINI. You can feel the future atmosphere with this striking Chameleon Mini Cooper able to change colors. Despite of the fact that the Mini Chameleon has angles and curves, this does not seem to be a problem for a car to change its colors smoothly. Called the Mini Chameleon, the car changes its colors according to both temperature and moisture.

This MINI designed by BMW will showcase its brainchild in the MINI Habitat showroom in Singapore on June 30th 2009. What is amazing is the fact that colors tend to be changed in seconds. Apparently, this jaw-dropping Mini Cooper does not seem to be a good idea for police officers chasing criminals.

Color changing capability proves to be very helpful for Mini’s drivers with its ability to brighten car’s paint on a rainy day, ensuring improved visibility and thus increasing driver’s safety while on a sunny day the car’s paint lightens to reflect heat and chill the car. Color changing capability became available due to a FeintPaint technology developed by Spanish company named Payola Forlids.

The Mini Chameleon is heat sensitive vehicle which makes it possible to warn of overheating engines. The same temperature sensitive paint based on liquid crystal was already used in T-shirts and toy cars so with all the color customization options the technology seems to have a promising future. So if you live in Singapore and has such a mini, be ready to find it in your car park as soon as the weather changes.
