Sony launches PSP Go with 16GB memory and Bluetooth

Play Station Portable Family has now grown up. Sony launches Play Station Portable Go on Saturday. The PSP Go is made like a slider and it makes the device more portable. The PSP internal memory has been upgraded up to 16 GB and it also has a memory card slot. Now the device is more comfortable to use like a media player.

And this is not all. Sony has upgraded PSP Go with a Bluetooth. Now players can talk with each other using voice chat via Bluetooth. Also they can use Skype to talk with any Bluetooth devices. 

Sony has a lot of competitors in the portable world. The iPod touch has been marketed as a gaming device by Apple and it the first competitor. The second competitor is the Nintendo DS. But Play Station Portable occupies a high level in the world of portable gaming devices.

Sony says that PSP Go not differs from the other PSPs. It will be an alternative for Play Station fans. The price is not officially announced.

Deus Ex Machina concept - combo of exoskeleton and bike

This futuristically looking concept bike christened Deus Ex Machina was invented by Jake Loniak who is a student at Art Center Pasadena. Having a fabulous design, this concept bike looks like a cyborg from the science fiction. This super bike is going to be powered by ultra capacitors with nano phoshpate batteries being similar to those used in hybrid cars. 

Its main controller seems to be 36 pneumatic muscles along with two linear actuators mounted in its spine while having 7 artificial vertebrae. The Deus Ex Machina concept bike has an easy to use helmet which is pneumatically attached. This state of the art super bike is reported to be capable of reaching its top speed of seventy five miles per hour. 

Still, it is not quite clear how good a bike rider is protected when used this bike. Being a combination of exoskeleton and bike, it looks fascinating. This miraculous super bike is believed to be capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3 seconds while its recharge time would be a 15 minutes period with 1 hour cycle time. 

This Yamaha branded motorcycle is a great example of how future bikes may look like. This technical wonder is also an environmentally friendly bike, Deus Ex Machina is translated as God out of machine. Besides, The Deus Ex Machina includes an in wheel engine with good torque capacity but we are unlikely to see this concept bike in the not too distant future as this is now just a concept.

Flexible AMOLED display with PHOLED technology increases power efficiency

The Universal Display Corporation, along with a research center at Arizona State University, today unveiled a flexible AMOLED(INFO) display that uses phosphorescent organic light-emitting diode (PHOLED) technology printed on plastic to create a bendable, bright, and extremely low power display medium.

PHOLED technology allows the display to convert 100 percent of the electrical energy into light. Traditional fluorescent OLED(INFO) displays only convert 25 percent, meaning that the new displays will use only a quarter of the power required by current OLED screens.

Is it a keyboard or a bag?

I have a Palm PC and as you all know the keyboard that those things have is very small. Besides, it is very hard to hit the right button because they are too small. This is why it is kind of difficult to work with those gadgets. How about those who have, smart phones and other PDA's? How can you type fast and easy without the huge PC keyboard?

Inkless photo printer that can be used in digital cameras

There is one more way to print your favorite pictures now. You can do it using no ink. That means that photo printers will become hand-held and you will be able to carry them around and print pictures whenever you want. No need to get home or to a shop to print out the pictures anymore.

Palaroid Company has invented a new way to print pictures. Now their printers do not use ink to print. These printing gadgets can be built into phones or digital cameras. The product will appear on market in the end of year 2007. 

The principle of work is very simple; the paper is changing its color when heat is applied. So applying certain amount of heat will make the piece of paper change color to a specific one. You will not have to have liquid ink cartridges in your printer. 

The paper that is used is not usual. It is originally white plastic that has several very thin layers. The layers are micro-thin layers of different colors: yellow on top, then goes magenta and on the very bottom cyan. When heat is applied the paper changes it color thanks to the different color layers. 

When the heat is applied to the surface of the paper, the size and shape of the dye molecules changes from crystal to amorphous glasses and allows you to see the layer beneath it, releasing the color. The temperature and exposure on every pixel is controlled and you will be able to make some good pictures right after you have taken the shot. The yellow layer needs the highest temperature and has the shortest melting time. The magenta layer needs lower temperature and some more time to melt, and finally the cyan layer needs lowest temperature and longest exposure time to melt. This is how you can have color pictures at your hands any time you want.

A picture 5 cm x 7.5 cm will take about 30 seconds to print. Good speed for a new technology. However, the picture size is not that big. I think that it would take this new technology very long to replace our standard ways of printing photos. Old-fashion way of making photos is much faster and less expensive.

The printer will cost you about 0 and 100 sheets will cost you $ 20 so you should thing what you would like to buy. It is a pretty big price for something like that. We will se how good the pictures will be.

Bluetooth is now built in watches

There are two accessories that most people have and those two accessories have one common function. These two accessories are: the watch, and the cell phone. Both can show you the time and both are necessary to wear, I think. 

However, there are some watches that have the cell phones built in, but my opinion about them is not that good. They do not have as many functions and as much memory.

On the other hand, if you do not wear any watch and you want to know what time it is you have to take your cell phone out of your pocket. It is annoying dragging your cell phone in and out all the day long any time you need to know the time. The Fossil and Sony Ericsson companies have decided to combine these two accessories and make them work together. 

They have created this new gadget watch that has the Bluetooth technology built in. Having this watch you will not need to take your phone out of your pocket at all. Why? It is because of some features that this watch has.

The MBW-100 gadget watch has a small LCD display and is Bluetooth enabled it has functions like Caller ID which will help you know who is calling you without taking your cell phone out. Besides, it will notify you if you get a SMS message. 

If you also have a Bluetooth hands free accessory you will not need to take your cell phone out of your pocket at all because you have everything you need on your watch and Bluetooth hands free. I think that this is a very good plus.

Now the disadvantages: One of the biggest disadvantages that this watch works only with Sony Ericsson phones. Besides it works not with all of them but the most sophisticated ones. The other thing is that I am not sure about the battery because having the Bluetooth on all the time needs a lot of energy and I am not sure if you can charge the battery of this watch. Well, you can of course buy a rechargeable one and charge it every day. 

Generally, I think that this is a very useful gadget especially for a businessmen because they do not have time to waste. This gadget helped me too: Once I was driving my car in the downtown and did not want to talk with my wife. So whenever somebody called I had to look who is calling. Fortunately I did not have to look at my cell phone every time because it was in my pocket. All I was doing is that I was looking at my watch. So it saved me from a car crash or something like that. If you are a really modern guy I think that you should buy a watch like this.

Thermoelectric Generator to Turn Body Heat into Electricity

German researchers are the ones that discovered a new source of energy. Using body heat to power up your favorite gadgets would be a good replacement to battery chargers. But, it is not that powerful yet and for now only small things can run on its energy yet.

The researchers say that they have designed "entire electronic systems" that can be powered by body heat electricity. On the picture they show that a wireless transmitter works on body heat energy and transfers data to the laptop. However, it only needs 200 millivolts to work. So I imagine how weak those systems that they have developed are. 

If the size of thermoelectric generator used to convert heat into electricity is small enough it can be built in clothing for example. A man's back surface will generate much more heat than its hand so that would be a pretty good way to use the new source of electricity. It might be enough to power up color changing glasses, or some small things like your watch, only they will stop functioning each time you take them off.

They still have ways to go in order to make our bodies able to power up cell phones, portable video games, and video players. 

High storage capacity with new king-sized DVD concept

It is believed now by Australian researchers that due to nanotechnology progress, DVD capacity can be increased to be 2000-fold while no changes of the size of the disc are expected. Until now, there was not any possibility to store all your home movies collection on one disk but thanks to efforts of researchers from Melbourne's Swinburne University ofTechnology, this concept happens to advance.

The idea becomes more realistic owing to a new nano-particles study conducted by Australian researchers. The difference is a number of dimensions being present in DVD. Standard DVD has only 3 spatial dimensions while new king sized DVD offered by Swinburne team features two extra dimensions designed to both record data color and polarization. 

The color dimension used for writing and reading data was developed by placing nano rods to the surface of the disk. Depending on its shape, nano particles respond to light what makes it possible to record data in another wavelengths but using the same disc location. These super high capacity disks are expected to be useful for different target audience, including military, medical and other services. 

Actually, a regular DVD uses only 0, 1 percent of volume while the researchers demonstrate how new high technologies can extend its storage capacity to 52 layers with plans to increase it up to 300 layers. Principle of operation of polarization dimension allows researchers to record various layers at different angles. The product is schedule for a release within 5 - 10 years.
